Hey Beatlebob!
Yes, it has been raining alot for me too. May was a rough month. So glad it's over! Cheers to a much better June! I remembered June is when Paul McCartney's birthday is, and the anniversary of Sgt. Pepper (now the 50th! Hard to believe it's been that long!!) but I didn't remember it was A Hard Day's Night month too? Is it the anniversary of the song, album, or movie? Or all? Please clue me in! LOL!!! Have a fab day! :-)
Hey Sadie!
I see it's been raining a lot where you are too!! :-( YES! May was sure a rough month!! So Glad it's over with!!! Yes, CHEERS to a Much Better June!!! I'm Sure you remembered June is when Paul McCartney's birthday is! :-) And the 50th anniversary of the Sgt. Pepper album!! :-)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album was Released on 26 May 1967 in the United Kingdom and "2 June 1967 in the United States". Some say it was released in the U.S. on June 1, 1967? I think it was June 2, 1967 for the U. S.
Love that Picture you posted!!! From the Enhanced 50th Anniversary edition!!! Very Colorful!!! Thanks for posting it!!! YES!! It's hard to believe it's been that long!! And yes as you wrote, The Summer Of Love 1967 too!!! :-) LOL!! I'll clue you in! Yeah, it's the anniversary of the "American Version" of the A Hard Day's Night "Album" in June! The American Version of the A Hard Day's Night "Album" was released on June 26, 1964. By United Artists Records in both mono and stereo.
Thanks!!! You have a FAB Day and Weekend too, My Friend!!! :-)
Beatlebob, that poster is so cute! Thanks for posting it! I like everyone on it! But I don't think I know who "The Merry Pranksters" or "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" are? LOL!!!!! I actually have heard OF Butterfield Blues Band but I'm not sure if I know their music or not.
Thanks for letting me know that June is the anniversary of the American release of the AHDN album! Great!!
I always liked the picture used as the album cover in the American version but I don't like how the song "I'll Be Back" ain't on it! But at least it has that instrumental tune from the movie called "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)" I just told BeatleNut9 the other day how "I'll Be Back" is probably my favorite Beatles song, if I had to choose just one!! She loves it too and said it's an interesting choice, but she once knew a guy who said "Sun King" is his favorite! That's an even stranger choice!! LOL! I've never heard anyone say that's their favorite! Or "I'll Be Back" either!
I'm selling some stuff on eBay to try to raise money to see Paul!! Or at least come up with enough to get the new Sgt. Pepper sets!
Have a fab month, my friend!!!! :-)
Hey Sadie! You're Welcome for posting that poster! Glad you liked it! I like everyone on it too!! The "The Merry Pranksters" and the "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" were a band of hippies that started out in the summer of 1964 and kept going till 1969.
Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters lived communally at Kesey's homes in California and Oregon, and are noted for the sociological significance of a lengthy road trip they took in the summer of 1964, traveling across the United States in a psychedelic painted school bus called Further, organizing parties and giving out LSD. During this time they met many of the guiding lights of the mid-1960s cultural movement and presaged what is commonly thought of as hippies with odd behavior, tie-dyed and red, white and blue clothing, and a renunciation of the normal society, which they dubbed The Establishment.
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is a nonfiction book by Tom Wolfe that was published in 1968. The book is remembered today as an early – and arguably the most popular – example of the growing literary style called New Journalism. Wolfe presents an as-if-firsthand account of the experiences of Ken Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters, who traveled across the country in a colorfully painted school bus named Further. Kesey and the Pranksters became famous for their use of LSD and other psychedelic drugs in hopes of achieving inter subjectivity. The book chronicles the Acid Tests (parties in which LSD-laced Kool-Aid was used to obtain a communal trip), the group's encounters with (in)famous figures of the time, including famous authors, Hells Angels, and The Grateful Dead, and it also describes Kesey's exile to Mexico and his arrests.
Trip of a lifetime: Ken Kesey, LSD, the Merry Pranksters and the birth of psychedelia. LOL! ;-)
Butterfield Blues Band. Which was known as the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. First song was from 1966 and the second song was from the film "The Last Waltz" with the Band! Song - Mystery Train .
You're Welcome for letting you know that June is the anniversary of the American release of the AHDN album!!! :-) Thanks for posting the Picture that was used as the album cover in the American version!! I Always liked that Picture they used too!! :-) GREAT!!! Yeah, "I’ll Be Back" was released on the U.K. album but Not on the U.S. album! Sad! :-( Yes, at least it has that instrumental tune from the movie called "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)"! I Really Like "I'll Be Back" too!! It's also, sad that "You Can’t Do That" wasn't on the U.S. album either! And was cut from the AHDN Movie too!! :-(
I see BeatleNut9 loves "I'll Be Back" too! It is an interesting choice! A "raw confessional style" type of song from John! A Great Song!! I Really Like that song too!!! Yeah, that guy that BeatleNut9 knew said "Sun King" is his favorite. LOL! Yes, that is a Strange Choice! Maybe because of the Great vocal harmonies in that song? I've never heard anyone say that's their favorite! Or "I'll Be Back" for that matter too! LOL! But, "I'll Be Back" Is a Great Song!!!! :-)
