So Glad you Did!! :-) I'm Glad you added these songs from John and George!!! :-) This IS FUN!! :-)
Have a Groovy Day My Friend!! :-)
OMG Beatlebob! I LOVE all those songs you mentioned!!! (No pun intended! LOL!)
Here is some more I thought of...
Love Me Two Times - The Doors
Our Love Was - The Who
Love Hurts - Nazareth (It's originally by The Everly Brothers)
And there's a 60s band called "Love", which I like...
Some of my favorite songs of theirs are Little Red Book, The Red Telephone, and Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale.
And as for the "summer" theme... I like all those songs listed too!
There is a song I thought of called "Summertime". I'm not sure if you guys know it? It goes "It's summertime, and living is easy..." in the lyrics. I read there are many different versions of it by Bing Crosby, Miles Davis, Janis Joplin and Sublime. I'm not sure who does the original... or if it's just one of those really old "standard" songs that people cover, you know? lol
There is also "Summertime Blues" by Eddie Cochran
(The Who did a cover of this song, it's on the "Woodstock" soundtrack.)
"Summertime Girls" by Y&T
(Some random band from the Eighties... lol their full name is really Yesterday & Today, which could be inspired by The Beatles infamous butcher cover album?)
"Summertime Sadness" by Lana Del Rey
(A modern singer... but she's actually not that bad, in my opinion!)
P.S. These songs don't say "summer" in the title, but they fit the summery theme! lol!
Beatles - I'll Follow The Sun, Here Comes The Sun, Sun King, Good Day Sunshine
No playlist is complete without some Beatles songs on it! ;-)
And anything by The Beach Boys of course, is a must have for any summer playlist! :-)
Speakin of love songs, I am now listening to Mercy - Love (Can Make You Happy)
More "Love" songs -
Spiral Starecase - I Love You More Today Than Yesterday
Classics IV - Traces of Love
and of course,
THE CARS - BYE BYE LOVE
and The Everly Brothers Bye Bye Love
and Buddy Holly - True Love Ways
Sadie...I Loved them too!!! LOL! ;-) Yes, I forgot about the ones you mentioned here!! Thanks! And I remember that band called Love!! :-))
I Liked the Summer Theme songs too!!! I know Summertime mainly done by Janis Joplin. And I found some more information about Summertime too.
"Summertime" is the name of an aria composed by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. Billie Holiday recorded a version of "Summertime" as did Frank Sinatra. Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong sang the song in duet. Charlie Parker played his version along with many other jazz standards with an orchestra section. Both Miles Davis and John Coltrane recorded their interpretations. R&B artist Sam Cooke scored a minor pop hit with his rendition of the song in 1957, when it backed his hit "You Send Me." One of the best known versions is Janis Joplin's recording of a blues-rock version with Big Brother & The Holding Company. Billy Stewart's version became a Top 10 Pop and R&B hit in 1966 for Chess Records. Even seemingly unlikely performers such as the Zombies and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have made recordings of it.
Cool Facts and songs you added!! Love the Who's version of Summertime Blues! :-)
I agree with what you said about those Beatles Songs! And No playlist is complete without some Beatles songs on it!! :-) And of course The Beach Boys is a must have for a Summer Playlist!!! Great!!! :-D
Candy O, Thanks for the Video!!! I remember that song!!!! I Liked it!!! And of course the ones you added to the list I know too!!! I can imagine there are more "Love" songs out there, to be found!!! Thanks!! Cool!!! :-D
"Love Can Make You Happy" is one of my favorite songs EVER, it's on my fake wedding playlist! So is "Forever" my Mercy. Thanks for the information on "Summertime". The version I am familiar with and always hear on the radio sounds like a black man singing. LOL so I'm not really sure which one that is, but any version is fine by me. :)
I Really Like "Love Can Make You Happy" too!! You're Welcome for the info on Summertime!! The one you usually hear could be Charlie Parker? LOL! ;-)
I bet it most likely is Charlie Parker! But I'll try to go on YouTube later and let you know for sure which version of "Summertime" I'm most familiar with!
I thought of some more songs...
The Doors - Love Street, Love Her Madly, My Wild Love, Love Me Two Times
The Who - Love Ain't For Keeping, Love Reign Over Me
Love Is Strange by Micky & Sylvia
Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat & Orchestra
The Supremes - You Can't Hurry Love, Baby Love, Love Is Here And Now You're Gone, Stop In The Name Of Love
George Harrison - Love Comes To Everyone
and there's probably many more songs that I'll think of later for the "love" theme, and probably even some more for "summertime"! I try not to cheat and look up any online, because that takes away the fun and challenge of this game!
By the way, I apologize if any of those tunes I listed have already been mentioned before!
It's time for a new theme... how about "name" theme? Songs with names in the titles... that should be easy enough.
Let me start...
Carrie Ann by The Hollies
Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys
Tracy by The Cuff Links (they also have a song called Sally Ann)
Angie by The Rolling Stones
Cathy's Clown by The Everly Brothers
Cindy's Birthday by Johnny Crawford
Johnny Angel by Shelley Faberes
Sherry by The Four Seasons
Corrina, Corrina by ? lol I'm not quite sure who sings that... and I don't want to look up online because like I said earlier that's kind of cheating haha
Mary, Mary by The Monkees
Valleri by The Monkees
Jean by Oliver
...Have fun adding more to this list! ;-)
There are no birthdays today
