I think that photo of Paul with his eyes closed during the ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ recording session is a lovely picture. I thought at first, what was he doing, was he sleeping? But I knew damn well he wasn’t sleeping. He was listening to a playback. I was able to capture a quiet, thoughtful inner moment. I didn’t think we’ve seen many photos of The Beatles in those kinds of moments. Many people have shown the fun side of the Beatles. Look again inside this book because you’ll see many photos where they’re quietly there for themselves. There’s a saying: “If I am not for myself, who will be? And if not now, when?”
