He sure was a Great singer with a Very Unique voice!! Yes, the Heartbreakers are such a Good and Talented band!! I Agree!!! I was a fan of them too, even before I knew he was friends with and worked with George Harrison!!! Then I was even more fond of him!!! :-) So True!!!! We really DID "get lucky" to find Him!!! :-)

I read online that some new magazines with Tom Petty on the cover are out now. I haven't been to the supermarket in a while but next time I do, I'll be sure to search and probably buy at least one of them.

Not sure if you've heard already, but now there's finally a full official update on exactly why he died:

(CNN) Musician Tom Petty died of an accidental drug overdose of several medications. (A statement from his family on his official website and a news release from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said on Friday)

The cause of death was "multisystem organ failure due to resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to mixed drug toxicity" and the manner of death was "accident," the medical examiner's news release said. Petty also suffered from coronary artery atherosclerosis and emphysema, it said.

Acetyl fentanyl has not been approved for medical use in the United States and there are no published studies on safety for human use. It is classified as a schedule I drug.

Fentanyl, a powerful prescription painkiller, has created a national health crisis. It is what killed Prince.

"Despite this painful injury he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans and he toured for 53 dates with a fractured hip. On the day he died he was informed his hip had graduated to a full-on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his over use of medication."

 

I think that's amazing how he continued touring despite health issues! That really shows how strong his love & dedication to the fans was! While he did indeed die of a heart attack, now we know what caused it. It's still very sad and he will be forever missed! RIP Tom!
